1964 Pontiac Bonneville 2 door hardtop - 389 Tripower - Restored

Meticulous 5 year nut and bolt restoration of a rust free Calf. 1964 Pontiac Bonneville 2 door hardtop sport coupe, 389 H.O. Tripower (engine code 34N). In 2010 I purchased the Pontiac from the 2nd owner who resided in Calf who owned the car for aprox. 2 years. The first owner also resided in Calf. and purchased the car new from John Hine Pontiac in San Diego and owned the car for aprox. 44 years. The original Calf Black License plate is on the car. I also have the original warranty Protect -O-Plate booklet, some license plate renewals and part of the original window sticker. This car was originally built with the base 303HP 389, I replaced it with the correct coded completely rebuilt 389 H.O. Tripower (engine code 34N) having the correct 421 (716 heads). When I purchased the Pontiac the odometer reflected aprox. 95000 miles, the odometer now reflects 133 miles which is the amount of mileage I put on the car since I completed the restoration.

During the restoration the car was disassembled, the body did not need to come off the frame. Body and all panels including hood and trunk lid were chemically stripped to bare metal. The floor pans and chassis were sanded to bare metal and then primed and sprayed with a single stage chassis black. The body prep and paint work were preformed by one of the finest painters in the country. The paint is pristine and is done is a base coat/clear coat color of Marimba Red. Many items were powder coated which includes: wheels, inner fenders, trans support, radiator support, bumper brackets, headlight frames, front upper and lower control arms, engine pulleys and fan and jack assembly. All exterior and interior chrome was replated. All exterior and interior stainless trim was professionally polished. Several N.O.S. parts were used including factory spinner wheel covers, factory tach, rear tail panel molding and spare tire. The restoration also included all new: upholstery, headliner, carpeting, package tray and door panels all done to original, Pontiac reproduction rubber mats and trunk mat, new: stainless steel brake, fuel and trans lines, fuel tank and sending unit, brake assemblies and hardware, master cylinder, n.o.s. fuel pump, T-3 headlights, inner and outer front wheel bearing, tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints, front and rear shocks and springs, outer and inner door handles and window cranks, rebuilt front control arms, tinted windshield, rear window, side windows and vent windows, recast steering wheel, window, door and trunk weatherstripping, engine harness, front lamp wire harness and Coker Classic radio tires. Gauges and dash were polished, steering column and lower dash were painted. The Bonneville originally came with a 2.69 rear axle, I replaced it with a 3.08. Also I replaced the original gaudy pot metal rocker moldings with 3 1/4" stainless rocker moldings from a 1964 Pontiac Starchief which gives the car a cleaner sharper look. The radiator is filled with Evans Waterless Coolant which does not corrode.


Options on the Bonneville include: power steering, power brakes, 4 speed Super Hydromatic Trans (completely rebuilt) remote fender side mirror, factory tach, day/night rear view mirror, tinted windshield, front seat belts, dome reading/map light, reel out trunk light, AM radio and dual exhaust. I also installed a set of retro Stewart/Warner oil pressure, temp and volt gauge cluster on the lower dash.
